KarpaChess Privacy Policy

KarpaChess is a chess-learning app for iPhone, iPad and Android, published by Mourad Ghafiri ("we"). This policy says what happens to your information when you use it.
In short: KarpaChess collects no personal data. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
What we collect
Nothing. KarpaChess has:
- no account and no sign-in;
- no advertising;
- no analytics, usage statistics or crash reporting;
- no tracking, and no third-party code that does any of these.
The app never connects to the internet. There is no server for it to send anything to.
What the app keeps on your device
To work, the app stores these in its own private storage on your device:
- Your progress: lessons, the puzzle rating and results, points, level and streak.
- Your settings: language, theme, board, pieces, sounds, difficulty, time control, and the player name if you set one.
- Games:
- a practice game you have not finished;
- the game open in the Studio, with your drawings on it;
- games you import into the Studio library.
- Pictures you choose: a copy of the player picture you set, and of any pictures you give to the players of a Studio game.
None of this leaves your device through the app. It is not shared with anyone, and we cannot see it.
Your device's own backups may include it: iCloud or Finder backups on iPhone and iPad, and Android's backup service. Apple or Google handle those backups under your account, and we have no access to them. You control them in your device's settings.
Pictures and files
When you choose a picture for your player profile or for a Studio player, the app opens your device's photo picker. It copies only the picture you pick into its own storage. It does not read the rest of your photo library, and it never uses the camera.
When you import a game into the Studio, the app reads only the file you choose or the text you paste.
Deleting your data
- Reset progress & settings, at the bottom of Settings, erases your progress, your settings and your player picture.
- An imported game can be removed from the Studio library.
- Closing a game in the Studio clears the saved Studio session.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
We never receive your data, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You can still write to us with any question (see Contact below).
Children
KarpaChess is suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, children included.
This website
karpachess.com, where this policy is published, sets no cookies and has no analytics or tracking. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from other websites.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this same address with a new date at the top.
